The Studentenwerk Frankfurt (Oder) announces that Dorit Wehling was unanimously elected as the new Managing Director by the Administrative Board (VWR) today. Ms. Wehling, who began her academic career as a qualified language mediator and has 14 years of experience in the education sector, among other things, is expected to start her term of service at the Studentenwerk on March 1, 2024. The formal confirmation of Ms. Wehling’s appointment is still pending, as it requires the approval of the Brandenburg Ministry of Science, Research and Culture.
The appointment of a new Managing Director was necessary because the previous Managing Director, Monique Zweig, is seeking a career change and will take over as Managing Director of the IHK Ostbrandenburg from April 1, 2024.
Prof. Dr. Magdalena Mißler-Behr, Chairwoman of the Administrative Board, commented on the election of Ms. Wehling: “We are very much looking forward to working with Ms. Wehling and are convinced that she will master the upcoming challenges for the Studentenwerk Frankfurt (Oder) with her expertise and commitment.”
The selection process was characterized by great interest, which was reflected in 43 applications – including 7 female and 36 male candidates. Dorit Wehling has proven to be the ideal candidate thanks to her more than 14 years of experience in prominent positions of responsibility in the education sector and her extensive knowledge of the administration and organization of educational institutions.
Dorit Wehling herself was enthusiastic about her new role: “I am extremely pleased about the trust that has been placed in me and am motivated to actively shape the future of the Student Union. It is important to me to pursue innovative approaches and continuously improve the services for our students.”
Monique Zweig expressed her delight at the choice of her successor: “I am very happy that we have found a worthy successor in Ms. Wehling and can thus ensure a seamless transition in the management of the Studentenwerk. I am convinced and reassured that the Studentenwerk Frankfurt (Oder) is in good hands and look forward to further developments under the new management.”
The Studentenwerk Frankfurt (Oder) and its Board of Directors warmly welcome Dorit Wehling and wish her every success and a good hand in her new position. At the same time, they thank Monique Zweig for her commitment and outstanding work over the past few years and wish her all the best for her new role at the IHK Ostbrandenburg.
