Beginning this year, the student union is planning the refurbishment of sections of the Bernauer Heerstrasse student residence in Eberswalde. The aim of the refurbishment is to bring the technical building equipment, the fire protection and the interior fittings up to date and to meet the legal requirements.
A restructuring of the rooms was also planned with the refurbishment. Due to the considerable demand for 1-room apartments, three single apartments and one 2-person flat share were to be created from the two 3-person flat shares per floor and staircase.
As a result of the suggestions and information from residents of the residential complex and a recommendation from the HNE, the Studentenwerk will now only carry out the restructuring in 2 stages in the interest of maintaining affordable housing at the Eberswalde study location and increasing sustainability. In the other two staircases, the existing room layout will be retained.
With this decision, the Studentenwerk faces extensive replanning, which will affect both the construction process and the costs.
During the refurbishment, the Studentenwerk will provide all affected tenants with an alternative housing offer if they so wish.
